TL;DR
- CargoEZ: best overall for US international forwarders and NVOCCs. One cloud system for multimodal operations, AMS, ISF and customs entries, denied-party screening, rates, and multi-currency accounting, with week-scale go-live. G2 4.8/5 across 40 reviews.
- CargoWise: best for global enterprise forwarders. Native customs for 50-plus countries on one data model, though Capterra sits at 2.9/5 and the 2025 Value Pack repricing raised many bills 20 to 50 percent.
- Magaya Supply Chain: best for warehouse-heavy international SMBs. 4.4/5 on G2 across 309 reviews, the deepest US install base here, with warehouse management in the same system.
- GoFreight: best for US mid-market cross-border forwarders. Highest aggregate score in the set at 4.8/5 on G2 across 92 reviews, cloud-native, with 4 to 8 week onboarding.
- Descartes Forwarder Enterprise: best when trade compliance is the core risk. 4.2/5 on G2, denied-party screening and trade content from a vendor built around customs.
Ten platforms ranked for US freight forwarders and NVOCCs that move import and export files across borders. International work adds pressure that a domestic tool never sees: a single shipment can touch three or four customs regimes, settle in two currencies, and route across air, ocean, and inland legs before it clears. This comparison weighs multi-country customs depth, multimodal operations, multi-currency accounting, denied-party screening, and how each vendor handles the handoff between an overseas origin agent and a US destination branch. The pricing behind the custom quotes is here too, along with the pick for your trade lanes, shipment volume, and back-office setup.
What is international freight forwarding software?
International freight forwarding software gives a forwarder or NVOCC one system to run cross-border import and export files across air, ocean, and inland legs, covering quotes, bookings, house and master documentation, multi-country customs filing, denied-party screening, tracking, a customer portal, and multi-currency billing.
Platforms like CargoEZ, CargoWise, Magaya, and Descartes differ on how many customs regimes they file natively, whether trade compliance and screening are built in, how origin-agent and destination-branch handoffs are handled, and whether multi-currency accounting posts to a built-in ledger or exports to an ERP.

How we chose these tools
The starting point was scope exclusion. Domestic-only TMS products, parcel tools, and shipper-side supply chain suites were removed first, leaving platforms a US forwarder or NVOCC could actually run an import or export file on. The remaining vendors were assessed on documented multi-country customs capability, multimodal operations depth, multi-currency accounting, denied-party screening, and recurring themes across G2 and Capterra review samples. Ratings and review counts were read from live G2, Capterra, and Gartner Peer Insights pages in August 2026, and pricing came from vendor pricing pages and established third-party pricing databases on the same date. Vendor blogs and vendor comparison pages were not used as neutral evidence.

CargoEZ
Best overall for US international forwarders and NVOCCs that want cross-border operations, customs, and accounting on one cloud platformWhat's great
- Multimodal air, ocean, and inland file management with a customer portal and eAWB issuance in one system, so an import file moves from origin booking to US delivery without a second tool
- US customs filing built in for AMS, ISF, and entries, plus denied-party screening, which removes the separate compliance product most cross-border shops bolt on
- Rates and tariff management, WMS, a logistics CRM, and multi-currency invoicing under one login, with 24/7 support and implementations measured in weeks
Watch-outs
- G2 review base is small at 40 next to Magaya (309) or Freightos (28), so third-party validation is thinner
- Native customs is US-focused, so a forwarder filing directly in a dozen foreign jurisdictions still needs local brokers or CargoWise
- Pricing is quote-only with no public tiers, so budgeting needs a sales call
CargoEZ, from AVOW Solutions, is built for the US forwarder that runs the whole cross-border file in one place instead of stitching an operations tool to a customs filer to an accounting package. It carries 40 G2 reviews at 4.8/5, and the recurring themes are fast onboarding, responsive support, and non-technical operations staff picking it up quickly.
For an import or export shop the practical draw is that AMS, ISF, entries, and denied-party screening sit inside the same platform as air and ocean operations, rates and multi-currency accounting , and the customer portal. A cross-border project is usually an integration project, and CargoEZ collapses most of it.
The trade-off is a smaller public track record than the incumbents and no published pricing, so you commit to a demo and a quote before you can compare cost. One operations lead we spoke with valued the week-scale go-live over the deeper feature menus of the enterprise suites.
Best for small to mid-size US international forwarders and NVOCCs that want operations, US customs, and finance on one cloud system. Wrong for multinationals that must file natively in dozens of foreign customs regimes on day one, where CargoWise still leads.

CargoWise
Best for global enterprise forwarders running customs and forwarding on one system across many countriesWhat's great
- Deepest global customs coverage, with native US ACE, ABI, and ISF plus customs regimes for 50-plus countries on one database
- One data model across air, ocean, customs, warehouse, and inland for multinational forwarders, so an origin office and a destination office work the same file
- WiseTech Global's scale funds continued heavy product investment
Watch-outs
- Capterra rating sits at 2.9/5, with support scored around 1.9/5 by reviewers there
- Implementation typically runs 6 to 12 months and needs trained internal resources
- The December 2025 Value Pack pricing change raised many customers' costs 20 to 50 percent, and the learning curve is steep
CargoWise, from WiseTech Global, is the platform multinational forwarders standardize on when a shipment can touch five customs regimes before it clears. On G2 it holds 4.3/5 across 30 reviews , but Capterra tells a harder story at 2.9/5 , where support and pricing opacity draw the loudest complaints.
The capability is not in question: native ACE, ABI, and ISF filing plus dozens of other country regimes, all on one data model, which is exactly what a global network needs. The cost of that is a multi-quarter implementation, a real training investment, and the 2025 Value Pack repricing that pushed many bills up 20 to 50 percent.
CEOPickz ranks it second here rather than first because most US buyers searching this term are not multinationals, and for them the ROI does not land. For a global network it is the default.
Best for global forwarders with the internal resources to run a long deployment and the cross-border volume to justify it. Wrong for any US-focused shop under a few hundred shipments a month.

Magaya Supply Chain
Best for US SMB forwarders that need cross-border forwarding plus warehouse managementWhat's great
- Largest US SMB install base in this comparison, with 290 G2 reviews at 4.4/5 and strong marks for document generation on cross-border files
- Warehouse management sits in the same system as forwarding and customs, which suits import forwarders running bonded or 3PL space
- Named a Leader in nine G2 Winter 2026 grid reports across supply chain and logistics categories
Watch-outs
- Parts of the interface still feel dated to reviewers
- Accounting-integration and scaling complaints recur on Capterra
- Native customs is US-centric, so multi-country filing leans on partners
Magaya is the default recommendation for a US small-to-mid forwarder that also moves import freight through a warehouse. The 290 G2 reviews at 4.4/5 are the deepest track record here, and the vendor was named a Leader in nine G2 Winter 2026 grids .
Document automation and WMS are the strong points; forwarders consistently cite how fast it produces house bills, arrival notices, and manifests. The softer spots show up on Capterra , where reviewers flag an aging interface in places and friction connecting external accounting.
Pricing is modular and quote-based, so the WMS plus customs plus CRM configuration costs meaningfully more than the forwarding core alone.
Best for US SMB import forwarders with warehouse operations that want one vendor for both. Wrong for forwarders that need native customs in many countries or plan to keep accounting in a separate ERP.

GoFreight
Best for US mid-market forwarders running steady cross-border air and ocean volumeWhat's great
- Highest aggregate satisfaction in the category, with 4.8/5 on G2 across 92 reviews and a US-built product aimed at forwarders and NVOCCs
- Shipment-based accounting and AMS and ISF filing in a cloud-native interface reviewers call quick to learn
- Onboarding is usually 4 to 8 weeks with implementation often bundled, and mid-market pricing is published as per-user tiers rather than pure custom quote
Watch-outs
- Exact tier pricing is still gated behind a sales call
- Customs content is lighter than Descartes or CargoWise for complex multi-country trade compliance
- A younger platform, so very large multi-entity global forwarders can outgrow it
GoFreight is the cloud-native pick for a US forwarder that finds the legacy suites heavy and the entry tools too thin. Its 88 G2 reviews average 4.8/5, the highest in this set, and SelectHub’s profile echoes the same points: modern interface, shipment-based accounting, and short implementation.
Pricing is more transparent than most, with mid-market plans reported around $100 to $400 per user per month and implementation frequently included, though you still need a call for the exact number. Where it gives ground is deep multi-country customs content, which is Descartes and CargoWise territory.
For a forwarder doing steady import and export volume out of a few US branches, that gap rarely matters.
Best for US mid-market cross-border forwarders and NVOCCs that want to be live in under two months. Wrong for multinationals running many customs jurisdictions or shops that need on-premise control.

Descartes Forwarder Enterprise
Best when cross-border trade compliance and screening is the core risk, not file throughputWhat's great
- Denied-party screening, trade content, and ACE-enabled filing from a vendor whose entire identity is compliance
- Support scores better than CargoWise in head-to-head G2 comparisons
- Broad logistics network services, including carrier connectivity and routing, that you can add to the international file later
Watch-outs
- The interface is repeatedly described as aging, with little UX change over years of ownership
- Long implementation and enterprise pricing
- Forwarding operations depth is narrower than CargoWise or Magaya, so many buyers pair it rather than run everything on it
Descartes is the pick when the thing that keeps you up at night is a misfiled entry or a screening miss on a cross-border move, not house-bill throughput. Its Forwarder Enterprise Suite carries a 4.2/5 G2 rating, and comparison reviews credit it with better support and setup than CargoWise while flagging the same dated interface.
The strength is trade content and ACE filing backed by the wider Descartes network, which you can extend into carrier connectivity and routing over time. The weakness is that pure forwarding operations are thinner than the all-in-one suites, so buyers often run Descartes for compliance alongside another operations tool, per FarEye’s alternatives roundup .
Best for enterprise forwarders and customs brokers where compliance is the primary cross-border workflow. Wrong for small forwarders that need one affordable system for everything.

Logitude World
Best value for small international forwarders replacing spreadsheets and email chainsWhat's great
- 4.6/5 on G2 across 94 reviews and 4.5/5 on Capterra across roughly 40, strong for a small vendor
- Air, ocean, and land forwarding with quotes, bookings, house and master documents, and tracking at an entry price well below the enterprise suites
- Reviewers report productive use within two to three weeks
Watch-outs
- Reviewers note several accounting reports are missing and that API integrations cost extra
- Native customs filing is limited, so US NVOCCs must confirm AMS and ISF coverage
- Interface looks dated next to GoFreight
Logitude World is the budget entry point for a small international forwarder replacing spreadsheets and email chains. It combines a 4.6/5 G2 score across 94 reviews with a 4.5/5 on Capterra , a rare double for a vendor this size.
The workflow covers quoting, booking, cross-border documents, and tracking across all three modes, and the published pricing starts near $25 per user per month, a fraction of what Magaya or CargoWise cost. The limits are real: reviewers want more accounting reports, API connections are billed separately, and customs filing is thin.
Best for small US international forwarders that value low cost and fast setup over depth. Wrong for anyone who needs full financial accounting in the same tool or native customs in multiple countries.

Logi-Sys
Best for international forwarders that want an end-to-end forwarding ERP with a real general ledgerWhat's great
- One system across sales and CRM, air, ocean, and land operations, WMS, TMS, billing, and full financial accounting
- Used by more than 1,000 forwarders across 50-plus countries, with regular updates and responsive support cited on Capterra and Gartner Peer Insights
- Module-per-line-of-business structure with MIS and BI reporting suits multi-country LSPs
Watch-outs
- G2 presence is effectively a single review, so cross-platform validation is limited
- India-headquartered vendor, so US buyers should confirm local support hours and US customs-filing coverage
- The breadth means longer configuration than a focused tool
Logi-Sys, from Softlink Global, is a full forwarding ERP: operations, CRM, warehouse, billing, and a real general ledger in one platform, which is unusual at this price. On Capterra it holds 4.7/5 across 24 reviews with 92 percent positive sentiment, and it has a steady presence on Gartner Peer Insights .
The appeal is the finance layer; forwarders that want profit-per-file and multi-currency accounting without a separate ERP get it here, along with multi-country operations. The caveats are a thin G2 footprint and an India base, so US NVOCCs should pressure-test AMS and ISF coverage and support in US hours during the trial.
Best for international forwarders that want operations and accounting genuinely unified. Wrong for buyers who need a large US reference base before signing.

Freightos
Best for international rate procurement and instant air and ocean booking on top of your operations systemWhat's great
- WebCargo is used by more than 1,000 forwarders to automate cross-border rate management, procurement, and pricing across modes
- Instant electronic air booking with dozens of airlines plus live ocean rates on international lanes
- Largest review base among the rate-focused tools here, at 389 on G2
Watch-outs
- It is a rate, quoting, and booking layer, not a full forwarding operations or accounting system
- Support is praised on some channels and called slow on others
- Marketplace economics and transaction fees need modeling before you commit
Freightos, through its WebCargo platform, is the rate and booking layer that many international forwarders run on top of their operations system. It holds 4.1/5 on Capterra across 28 reviews and 4.3/5 on Capterra across 54 , and reviewers value instant quotes replacing slow email cycles with overseas carriers.
WebCargo automates rate procurement, pricing, and sale across air and ocean, and its air eBooking connects to dozens of carriers. What it is not is a place to manage the shipment file, customs, or the ledger, so it sits alongside CargoEZ, GoFreight, or Magaya rather than replacing them.
Best for international forwarders whose pain is rate management and quoting speed. Wrong as a single system of record.

GoComet
Best for cross-border rate procurement, container visibility, and freight invoice auditWhat's great
- AI-driven rate procurement with reverse-auction RFQs, plus multimodal container tracking and freight invoice audit in one place
- 4.8/5 on Capterra across 51 reviews and high Gartner Peer Insights marks
- Fast time to value with an interface reviewers find quick to adopt across international lanes
Watch-outs
- It complements rather than replaces a forwarding operations and accounting system
- Some data-refresh lag from smaller overseas carriers
- Deep legacy-ERP integrations carry a learning curve
GoComet is a procurement, visibility, and freight-audit layer rather than a full forwarding system, and it is very good at that job on international lanes. It holds 4.8/5 on Capterra across 51 reviews and strong Gartner Peer Insights scores, with reviewers citing quick adoption and responsive support.
The reverse-auction RFQ tool is the standout, pushing rate requests to multiple providers and surfacing the best option, and the tracking and invoice-audit modules catch overpayments on cross-border moves. The gaps are the usual ones for this tool type: no operations file, no ledger, and some lag on data from smaller carriers.

Rose Rocket
Best for international forwarders that also run US drayage and final-mile on import filesWhat's great
- Strong open API and integration model, with automation for order management and dispatch that reviewers single out
- Connects an international import file to US drayage and final-mile on one platform, removing a manual handoff
- Good support and quick onboarding for small to mid-size carriers and brokers
Watch-outs
- A North American TMS at heart, so ocean and air forwarding depth is limited next to CargoWise or Magaya
- Reviewers cite limited customization and occasional integration glitches
- No native customs filing
Rose Rocket earns its place for the international forwarder that also dispatches trucks on the US side of an import. It carries 4.4/5 on Capterra across 34 reviews and a strong G2 profile , with praise focused on the interface, order automation, and the API.
The value is joining the ocean or air leg to domestic drayage and final-mile without a second system and a manual re-key. The limits show on the international side, where it is shallower than the forwarding suites, and some reviewers want more customization.
Best for US forwarders with a brokerage or asset trucking operation attached to import files. Wrong for a pure international forwarder with no domestic transport to manage.

Tools we considered but excluded
We evaluated more tools than the 10 you see above. These did not make the cut. Saying what we rejected, and why, is the editorial muscle most listicles skip.
- Oracle Transportation Management: Enterprise TMS built for large shippers and 3PLs, not forwarder or NVOCC cross-border file management
- project44: Real-time international visibility platform used alongside a forwarding system rather than replacing one
- Cargoson: EU-origin transport management and multi-carrier rate comparison tool built for European shippers working with road carriers, not US air and ocean forwarders
- Shipthis: Modern AI-driven white-label forwarding platform with a 4.6/5 Capterra score, but only one G2 review, so cross-platform validation is thin
- Logisuite: Long-tenured US NVOCC and forwarding suite, but too few third-party reviews to score reliably and an interface that has aged
Honorable mentions
Solid tools that did not crack the main list but are worth tracking, especially for niche use cases.
- Shipthis: Worth a demo for forwarders that want a modern, customizable white-label portal and AI document features on cross-border files; watch the review base grow
- Logisuite: Established Doral-based NVOCC and forwarding suite with 24/7 support; worth a look for ocean-heavy US NVOCCs comfortable with a traditional interface
- WiseTech CargoWise Neo: The lighter, browser-based tier of the CargoWise line; track it if you want the customs depth without the full ecosystem project
Why international forwarding needs its own software category
A domestic dispatch tool assumes one country, one currency, one filing regime, and one leg. An import file breaks all four of those assumptions at once.
A single ocean import can involve an origin agent booking with a carrier overseas, a master bill and a house bill, an ISF filed 24 hours before loading, an AMS manifest, a US customs entry, a bond, a currency conversion on the origin charges, and a drayage move to a warehouse before delivery. If the software only models part of that chain, the rest lives in email and spreadsheets, which is where margin leaks and compliance misses happen.
International freight forwarding software is the category that models the whole chain: multimodal operations, multi-country customs, denied-party screening, cross-border documentation, multi-currency billing, and a shared file that an overseas office and a US branch both work from. The ten platforms below cover that scope to very different depths, and the gap between them is widest on customs and accounting.
The buyer types in international freight forwarding software
There are five buyer profiles here, and the wrong-group mistake costs more in wasted implementation than the subscription ever will.
All-in-one forwarding platforms. CargoEZ, GoFreight, Magaya, and Logi-Sys run the whole cross-border file: quoting, air and ocean operations, documentation, US customs, a customer portal, and billing. For a US forwarder or NVOCC that wants one system of record, shortlist this group first.
Global enterprise suites. CargoWise and Descartes Forwarder Enterprise are built for scale and for customs complexity across many countries. They carry longer implementations and higher total cost, and they earn it only when shipment volume and jurisdictional spread are genuinely high.
Compliance-led systems. Descartes again, plus the customs and screening modules inside CargoWise and CargoEZ. If a misfiled entry or a denied-party miss is your biggest risk, weight this capability heavily and accept that some vendors here are thin on daily operations.
Rate, booking, and visibility layers. Freightos WebCargo and GoComet sit on top of an operations system rather than replacing it. They solve cross-border rate procurement, instant booking, container tracking, or freight audit, and they integrate back to the forwarding platform.
Forwarders with a domestic transport arm. Rose Rocket is the pick when the same company that clears the import also dispatches the drayage and final-mile, and wants both legs on one platform.
Multi-country customs coverage, and where each platform stops
This is the line that separates the enterprise suites from everything else, and it is worth being precise about.
Native filing in many countries. CargoWise files natively in 50-plus customs regimes on one data model. Logi-Sys covers multiple countries but US NVOCCs should confirm AMS and ISF depth directly. If your network files its own entries in Europe or Asia rather than using local brokers, this is a short list.
US-native, partner elsewhere. CargoEZ, GoFreight, and Magaya file AMS, ISF, and US entries themselves and lean on origin agents or brokers for foreign filing. For a US-anchored import or export shop, that is usually the right trade, and it keeps the platform lighter.
Compliance content, not throughput. Descartes brings denied-party screening and trade content as its core, with ACE filing, and is frequently paired with a separate operations tool rather than run as the only system.
No customs at all. Freightos, GoComet, and Rose Rocket do not file. They are rate, visibility, or domestic-transport layers, and the customs step happens elsewhere in your stack.
What cross-border pricing looks like in 2026
Almost everything in this category is quote-based, and the published numbers that exist are entry points, not the price you will pay.
Per-user subscription is the norm. Logitude publishes from about $25 per user per month, Logi-Sys lists from $80, and GoFreight’s mid-market tiers are reported around $100 to $400 per user per month with implementation often bundled. Seat count is the main cost driver.
Modules stack the bill. Magaya, CargoEZ, and CargoWise price the forwarding core separately from WMS, customs, screening, CRM, and accounting. The demo configuration and the contract configuration are rarely the same, so price the modules you will actually switch on.
Enterprise means implementation fees. CargoWise and Descartes deployments commonly run six figures a year once services, training, and trade content are included. CargoWise’s December 2025 Value Pack change also raised many existing customers’ costs 20 to 50 percent, so ask current users about renewal behavior.
Rate tools carry transaction economics. Freightos marketplace activity involves fees, and GoComet prices by module. Model the per-shipment cost against the rate savings before you commit.
Running a real international file through a trial
Do not test the vendor demo. Test your own import file, your own lanes, and your own back office.
One, run a real ocean import end to end. Take an actual file from origin booking to ISF to AMS to entry to arrival notice to invoice. Count the clicks and the manual re-keying. This single exercise exposes most of the workflow friction you will live with.
Two, file a test ISF and AMS. Confirm the system files directly or through a named integration, and check how corrections and rejections are handled. CargoEZ, GoFreight, Magaya, and CargoWise cover this to different depths.
Three, run a denied-party screening hit. Push a party that should trigger a match and see whether the system stops the file, logs the check, and gives an audit trail. For Descartes this is core; for the lighter tools, confirm it exists at all.
Four, generate the accounting entries in two currencies. Raise an invoice with origin charges in a foreign currency, apply a vendor bill against the file, and pull profit per shipment. Confirm whether it posts to a built-in ledger or exports to QuickBooks or an ERP, and how clean that export is.
Five, test the origin-agent handoff. Have someone act as an overseas office creating the shipment, then work it from the US side. If that handoff needs email or a spreadsheet, the platform is not really multi-branch.
Six, test support in your time zone. Log a real question during a US business day and time the response. For vendors headquartered outside the US, this is the check that matters most.
Choosing by trade lane, volume, and back office
Answer these before you book demos and the ten tools narrow to two or three.
1. Trade lanes and filing footprint
If your network files its own entries in many countries, CargoWise leads, with Logi-Sys as a multi-country alternative to pressure-test. If you are US-anchored and use origin agents abroad, CargoEZ, GoFreight, and Magaya are enough. If compliance risk dominates, weight Descartes.
2. Shipment volume and implementation tolerance
Under roughly 20 users and needing to be live fast: Logitude, GoFreight, or CargoEZ. Mid-market with warehouse operations: Magaya or CargoEZ. Multinational with resources for a 6 to 12 month project: CargoWise or Descartes.
3. Back-office and accounting setup
If you want cross-border operations and finance in one system with multi-currency invoicing and profit per file, shortlist CargoEZ, Magaya, Logi-Sys, and CargoWise. If you keep accounting in a separate ERP, a lighter operations tool such as GoFreight or Logitude plus a clean export is enough.
4. Adjacent operations you also run
A warehouse points to Magaya or CargoEZ. A domestic trucking or brokerage arm points to Rose Rocket alongside the forwarding system. Heavy rate procurement points to Freightos WebCargo or GoComet on top of your system of record.
5. Systems you will not replace
List the tools you are keeping, such as an accounting ERP, a rating engine, or a visibility provider, then score each platform on named, documented integrations rather than roadmap promises.
Final pick by forwarder profile
- Small US international forwarder or NVOCC, under 20 users: CargoEZ for one system across operations, US customs, and multi-currency accounting, or Logitude if budget is the hard constraint.
- US mid-market forwarder on steady import and export lanes: GoFreight, for the 4.8/5 G2 track record and 4 to 8 week onboarding.
- Import forwarder with bonded or 3PL warehouse operations: Magaya, for the deepest US SMB base and strong WMS in the same system.
- Multinational network filing across many customs regimes: CargoWise, accepting the long implementation and the 2025 repricing.
- Compliance-first forwarder or customs broker: Descartes Forwarder Enterprise, paired with an operations tool if needed.
- Forwarder that wants operations and a real general ledger unified: Logi-Sys, after checking US support hours and customs coverage.
- Team whose main pain is cross-border rate management and quoting speed: Freightos WebCargo, on top of the operations system you already run.
- Team focused on rate procurement and freight spend control: GoComet, for reverse-auction RFQs, tracking, and invoice audit.
- Forwarder that also dispatches US drayage and final-mile: Rose Rocket, to join the international leg to domestic transport.
